| On September 22, 2002, we
were honored to host the Choir of Trinity Church, Wall Street, under
the direction of Dr. Owen Burdick, Organist and Director of Music at Trinity
Wall Street, when they made the first of their annual visits to us at
Trinity Lime Rock.
Here they are pictured following coffee hour that day.

The Trinity Wall Street Choir had been
at a weekend retreat at the nearby Trinity Conference Center while their
"Family Choir" filled in for them back home at the corner of
Broadway and Wall Street. What does
a choir love most to do? To sing!! Where to sing in the
Northwest Corner? Trinity Lime Rock, of course!!
The Trinity Wall
Street Choir had been performing a cappella since the tragedy of
September 11 had ruined all four of Trinity Wall Street's pipe organs -- and
they brought us an Offertory Anthem they had performed in the dark days
following September 11, when Trinity Church Wall Street itself was in the
"frozen zone" and that historic parish had been guests at the
Shrine of St. Elizabeth Seton -- and had been included in their 9/11 anniversary
performance.
To visit the Trinity Wall Street parish website to hear
and see the choir in performance of "Take him, earth, for
cherishing" by Herbert Howells, written in memory of John F. Kennedy,
just
.
At the
time, we scarcely dared to hope that we would be blessed with what has
become a wonderful TRADITION of the Trinity Wall Street Choir visiting
us every year in the Autumn!
It is a
wonderful tradition, and one we are truly thankful for. Thank you
to the Choir of Trinity Church Wall Street for visiting us, and thank you to
the Clergy, Wardens, Vestry, and people of Trinity Wall Street for letting us
enjoy their wonderful music!! We hope they return to us often, and we
hope they enjoy THEIR
new digital organ as much as we enjoy ours!! |
The
Choir of Trinity Church Wall Street returned to visit us in 2003.
Again, they were at Trinity Conference Center on retreat, and we were
delighted to welcome them back.
This time their visit
coincided with the Feast of St. Francis -- and our annual blessing of the
animals.
to see pictures of the day in our parish photo album!! Or,
to see some pictures that the Trinity Wall Street Choir took of their visit
to us and have graciously shared!
And, once again, our friends from
Trinity Wall Street came to visit us in 2004. We have all agreed
that this is an annual activity, and we hope it continues to be for a
long, long time. Again, photos are in the
Parish Photo Album.
to see them!!
Continuing the tradition,
we saw (and HEARD) our friends from "Big Trinity" in 2005. Again,
pictures are in our photo album.
to see them!!
"Big Trinity's" 2006
visit to "Little Trinity" is now history.
to see the pictures! We will
again welcome the Trinity Wall Street Choir (for their sixth consecutive
year) in 2007 -- and we're looking forward to their visit! |
