Yes, you could be kind and say that it was certainly compact and cozy.  But our multi-use space just wasn't big enough anymore for a congregation that does all that we do at Trinity Lime Rock.  Here are just a few examples.

• When we had our speaker from the Hartford Seminary for our "Understanding Islam" program, the speaker had to stand in the library and speak to the group from a lectern positioned under the archway -- there were simply too many people to fit both speaker and audience in the main room of Walker Hall.
• When we had our famous Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, and Thanksgiving Supper, and our Maundy Thursday Lamb Supper, we had to angle the tables to fit them all in -- and woe unto someone seated next to the wall who wanted to go back for seconds!!  For the Thanksgiving Supper in particular, we truly ran out of places where tables could be set up.  And that wasn't the only time it's happened!
• Ask any Sunday School teacher who's taught in our library what it's like to try to hold the attention of a class when your "classroom" is part of the most heavily used pedestrian traffic pattern in the building.

If you're were a volunteer of any kind in the parish (and most of us are, one way or other!), you could probably think of ten ways your volunteer work would be made easier if you just had enough room to work in.  

The fact is that, despite the dismal economic climate, Trinity Lime Rock needed more ROOM!!  The architects did a great job.  And we've gotten what we needed.
