Pageant 2003...Cast PicturesAt 3:30 p.m. we stopped rehearsing and got ready for a formal (?) cast photo. We tried several times to get it just right, and, as you will see, we did NOT get it "just right".
But, before we could undertake ANOTHER burst of photography, we noticed that the congregation was already beginning to arrive!! It was time to get ready -- REALLY ready!!
...from the live production"O Come, all ye Faithful" was the cue. The procession entered from Walker Hall, and, stopping while the fifth candle in the Advent wreath was lit, proceeded to the rear of the church, for the opening sentences at the creche. Then, as we concluded the hymn, the procession made its way back down the aisle for the collect. Robertson Alford read the lesson from Isaiah, admonished the congregation to tell Joseph that there was "no room in the inn" should he ask them, set up a small platform with a kneeler on it for the Gospeller to stand on, and the 61th Pageant at Trinity Lime Rock was underway. Many well-spoken speeches, much very effective acting, a duet, two solos, the entrance (and somewhat premature but not unexpected departure) of our live "Baby Jesus", and soon the Pageant portion of the service was at an end. The Celebrant invited cast members who wished to join her, the Ministers of Communion, and the acolytes behind the altar rail for the Holy Eucharist. Others took seats in the choir or with their parents. Finally, the cast reassembled in the main aisle for the recessional. It was Christmas Eve, 2003.
