Christmas Pageant 2004

at Trinity Church, Lime Rock

Our 62nd Christmas Pageant!!

We heard the organ begin "O Come All Ye Faithful" and the Pageant was finally underway.

 Station at the creche

The Crucifer led the procession to the Station at the crèche.  Our Gospeller, our Narrator Angel, and our Assistant Director/prompter were also acolytes, and the Senior Warden was in the procession too.

 Olivia as Angel Narrator

After the Opening Acclamation and the Old Testament Lesson, the Pageant began.  Here's the Angel Narrator.

 Caroline as Elizabeth

The Gospeller introduced the role of Mary's kinsman Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist.

 Jesse as innkeeper

"...but I DO have a stable for the animals.  It's not much, but you could sleep in the straw."

 Michael and Courtney

"Thank you!  We really appreciate it; you don't know how much!  Please show us the way!"

 Away in a manger

"Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, the little Lord Jesus lays down His sweet head"

 No crib for a bed

"The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay..."

 The Little Lord Jesus

"The little Lord Jesus (not exactly) asleep in the hay."

 Chaos in the stable

Our Angel Narrator has just noted that the stable must have been a bit chaotic that night, with all the angels and animals there.

Jesse, Hilly, and Olivia as a trio

Music has always been a highlight of our pageants.  Our Gospeller, our Angel Narrator, and our Innkeeper sang "Hush-a-bye, Sweet Baby" and "To Hear the Angels Sing" and sang the first verse of "Silent Night" as a trio.

 More chaos in the stable

Our cast shows what troupers they really are as Baby Jesus decides to visit the prompter and the animals wander here and there.

 Angels managing animal

It looks like the Little Angels are getting ready to manage that rambunctious animal.

 Lizzy and Hilly

One wonders exactly what the Gospeller was telling the prompter at this point!

Then, the Gospeller said "The Holy Gospel of our Lord" to end the Pageant itself.

The Rector thanked the cast, and the congregation gave them a well-deserved round of applause.

This year we decided to involve the cast in the remainder of the service more than we had in the past.  Mary, Joseph, Angel Gabriel, and the Innkeeper took the offering, assisted by the two Bigger Little Angels.  The prompter, the Gospeller, and the Angel Narrator returned to their Acolyte roles and received the offering.

And the Rector invited the cast to join her at the Altar for the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist itself.

Then, following the Christmas Blessing, to "Joy to the world" the procession, now augmented by the complete cast in costume, moved down the main aisle.

And with that, Trinity's 62nd Christmas Pageant came to an end -- but not entirely.  Shortly afterward, cast members were overheard discussing who would fill which role in Trinity's 63rd Christmas Pageant.
