The American Boychoirand Chorus AngelicusWe had a great visit from the resident training choir of the American Boychoir, of Princeton, NJ, along with the training choir and the junior choir of Chorus Angelicus, from nearby Torrington, CT, on June 22, 2007 for their first-ever joint performance. The resident training choir of the American Boychoir is directed by Nathan A. Wadley and accompanied by Serena Chin. For Chorus Angelicus, Karen Sovak directs the training choir, and Julie Bickford directs the junior choir. Mr. Wadley and Miss Chin directed and accompanied the combined choirs at this performance. This page, when it's finished, will contain still photos and several videos from the visit. It's an on-line memento of that visit. The music was -- predictably -- glorious. And, furthermore, we hope the kids -- all of them -- had fun. The parish was delighted to have them as our guests. Here's a video of the choristers (mainly Chorus Angelicus, this time) unwinding before the concert:
(or, if video isn't your cup of tea, here's a picture of the unwinding!) Then came the performance! In this video, we see the combined choirs under the baton of Mr. Wadley rehearsing and performing Allan F. Naplan's "Al Shlosha D'Varim".
The following video, entirely of the resident training choir of the American Boychoir, consists of three numbers: "Sound the Trumpet" -- Henry Purcell "Laudamus Te" -- Antonio Vivaldi "Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser" -- arr. Godfrey Radout The conductor is again Mr. Wadley.
This video was a memorable performance of the American Boychoir, joined by a girl from Chorus Angelicus who had recently performed the larger composition, performing "Pie Jesu" from Fauré's "Requiem".
Here's the final video from this concert. The two choirs joined to sing Schubert's "An de Musik" (better known as "to Music") and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Linden Lee".
