Class 2009

This year, Trinity participated in a joint program to prepare confirmands for Confirmation in May 2010

Our partners in this program were Christ Church Canaan, St. John's Salisbury, and All Saints Cornwall. The group met on the second Sunday of each month throughout the school year, and was led by representatives, clergy and lay, from each parish.

Three of Trinity's young peopleparticipated in this joint program, along with five young people representing the other parishes. From Trinity, Danielle Gaherty, Alexis Dorf and Pastor Heidi each conducted a session.

In April, the class went with Pastor Heidi to the ropes course at Indian Mountain School for a Saturday team-building event. And, during the weeks immediately preceding confirmation, our confirmands participated in "Episcopal 101" on Sunday mornings at 9 AM along with adult inquirers.

Here was part of a practical exercise from Sunday, May 2 -- how many of these can YOU identify? Do YOU know where the narthex is? How about the credence table? Our confirmands do, and they can prove it!

The young people from Trinity reported back that things went well, and that they enjoyed meeting and getting to know their peers from other area Episcopal churches, as well as students from elsewhere who attend Indian Mountain School.

This class was confirmed by the Rt. Rev. Laura Ahrens on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at St. John's Church, on Main Street in the village of Salisbury. Members of Trinity's choir augmented St. John's choir for the service, and Trinity also supplied another of our young people to serve as the Bishop's Chaplain for the day.

Bp. Ahrens, the confirming Bishop, was also the Bishop for the Installation of Pastor Heidi last fall, and we were delighted to welcome her back to the Northwest Corner!!
