Christmas Pageant 2010
| We had a quick run-through Sunday morning after the 8 AM
service, and Trinity Lime Rock's Christmas Pageant 2010 --
our 68th consecutive year that Trinity's young people have presented a
Christmas Pageant, ever since Fr. Mulligan, the Priest in Charge of our
then-tiny parish back in the dark, early years of World War II, decided that a Christmas Pageant would be a tonic for us
was on! Father Mulligan got that one exactly correct. It was
a super pageant, and it was indeed a tonic for all of us. This year we built on the success of Pastor Heidi's experience (and our experience) last year with an approach to Christmas Pageants that was new to us. This one addresses the subject of time in scenes from both Old and New Testaments, including kairos time, including the familiar nativity scene. We've got a new director/narrator this year, a parishioner who just happens to have in her credentials having written and directed a long-running off-Broadway play in New York City before coming up here to live. We've got a bumper crop of kids this year -- some you've seen grow up in Pageants ever since they were little Angels more than a decade ago, in the very first pageants shown on this website, and some others who are absolutely new to Trinity (and, of course, to our Christmas Pageants). We went with last year's successful format, with only one big standalone rehearsal, but this year the kids also prepared beforehand in Sunday School. The rehearsal was great! The kids love this format, they were absolutely focused, and their acting showed it. The rehearsal was December 18, and the performance was during the 10:30 AM Holy Eucharist the following day, December 19, which was also the fourth Sunday of Advent. |
