Summer Sports for kids at Trinity Lime Rock -- 2010 (above: our first 2010 Sunday morning session) About the 2010 program for kids:For our sixth summer of Trinity Lime Rock Sports we tried some new sports. As you might expect, some were successful, and some basically flopped. Here are the Summer 2010 sports for kids with some information about each. Volleyball -- this was a big success last year and interest remains high among the kids. One of our kids will be playing varsity HS volleyball this fall. So, VB will be back next summer. Softball -- It was popular with all age groups -- and some of the older kids participated in Lime Rock Park softball too. Badminton -- new this year - we'll keep it on the list for next summer. Football -- new this year -- not a keeper; the kids didn't come. Next summer we'll replace it with Ultimate Frisbee. Soccer -- our old standby, and we were fortunate to be able to welcome Coach Kirby back for an inspiring session. Definitely a keeper. Got suggestions for sports for Trinity? Every sport above came as a result of a suggestion, usually by a Trinity Kid. Should we get a ping pong table for Walker Hall? What else can we do in the winter months? Let us know!! |
Summer Sports for big people at Trinity Lime Rock - 2010 --Trinity planned its first-ever inter-church softball challenge. (Sadly, it was rained out and will be rescheduled for the fall). NEW! We have informal softball games with our neighbors from Lime Rock Park, the Skip Barber Racing School, and Fast Track Catering each Thursday evening (but we're taking September 2 off) at 6 PM in Trinity Field. C'mon over! Come a little early for batting practice!! --Trinity sent a team of 10 (including four kids) to the Bishop's 5K for Kids in West Hartford. One of the Trinity Kids came home with the silver medal in his division!! We see great things to come for our participation in this event, and encourage all participants in Trinity Summer Sports to plan on participating next May. |

About Summer Sports at Trinity Lime Rock: Summer Sports at Trinity Lime Rock is a program for the entire community as well as those with a Trinity Church connection. For kids: We meet at 10:30 AM on Sundays in Trinity Field, behind the church (enter via Dugway Road). Our sessions last just a little less than an hour. At about 11:15 AM, those who wish to may join the worship service already in progress in the church, and those who do not may leave with parent or guardian, or may wait until coffee hour begins -- when the sport of the day is likely to resume. There is no charge for this program, and you do not have to register in advance. For adults: The scheduled inter-parish softball game was rained out, but now we're playing softball each Thursday evening in Trinity Field, starting at 6 PM. Come on over! For everybody: We make road trips! The Bishop's 5-K for Kids was one. The CROP Walk in September will be another. Got suggestions? Let us know! See additional photos on our Facebook page" http://www.facebook.com/trinitylimerocksports Here's the calendar for the rest of the summer (subject to change): UPCOMING: Continued softball in Trinity Field on Thursday evenings -- no session on September 2 due to race weekend; softball resumes September 9 CROP Walk September 26 -- sign up as a walker or a sponsor. More about the Sunday morning sessions: What time does do the Sunday morning sessions start? 10:30 AM. That seems to be working out as the most convenient for all concerned. We'll play until about 11:15 and then take a break while those who wish to go inside for Holy Communion, and, for those who wish, we will resume playing after the service is over and coffee hour begins (adults sometimes join in the later session). We'll meet every Sunday morning after that until through the last Sunday in August. On August 29, we'll have Sundae Sunday -- this happens at coffee hour that day. Who's invited? All young people. You do NOT need to be a parishioner of Trinity Church, or an Episcopalian , or a resident of Salisbury or Falls Village or even of the Northwest Corner. What does it cost? NOTHING. It's free. How long do sessions last? We'll be done with the first part by 11:15 each Sunday morning. Those who wish can go inside the church for Holy Communion (the service will be already underway at that point), and others can leave with their parents or guardians, or stay around for the second act, which begins when Coffee Hour does. The exception to that is Sundae Sunday when everybody is encouraged to hang around and make your own ice cream sundaes during coffee hour, which follows the service.
