Chant workshop and Evensong

Chant Workshop and All Saints Evensong

Here’s more information about the Chant Workshop:

The Chant Workshop will be led by Trinity’s Music Director, Christine Gevert. She will teach singers the theory and practice of chant in both Latin and English. Besides providing instruction about in the technical aspects of this ancient practice, this workshop is also a vehicle to experience the spiritual aspect of chanting.

The Workshop will conclude with a public All Saints Evensong at 7 PM. It will include the chants learned in the workshop and some hymns. Trinity Choir singers and some guests will also sing Spanish and English Renaissance Polyphony. Singers that want to participate in this polyphonic repertoire, need to contact Ms. Gevert and will be invited to a prior rehearsal. Scores will be provided ahead of this rehearsal.

To register for the workshop, please send an email to: lesinegales@yahoo.com The workshop is free of cost.
Participants are asked to bring some food to share for a light potluck dinner.

Sunday Bulletin for October 2

This Sunday, October 2, is the Sunday we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis and hold our annual blessing of the animals.

Unlike many churches that separate the pet blessing from their worship, we do the two together — during the 10:30 AM Holy Eucharist!

Pets do need to be leashed or caged, but otherwise, bring them along!  We’re always surprised at how well they conduct themselves, even in an unfamiliar place with other animals and people they don’t know.

If you’re worried about what you will do with your pet when you are receiving Communion, worry no more.  Just look for someone wearing one of these badges and let him (or her) take care of your pet for those moments.

Bulletin for Sunday, July 3

Here’s the bulletin for services at Trinity Lime Rock on Sunday, July 3, 2016.

Note that this Sunday we’re having Morning Prayer at both the 8 AM service and at the 10:30 AM service instead of our customary Holy Eucharist.  Pastor Heidi is on vacation right now, and this brings both a change in pace and an opportunity for older Episcopalians to remember the way things were when Morning Prayer was the usual Sunday service, and Holy Eucharist was the exception.

Music Director in Bolivia

==On the World Stage==

Trinity’s Music Director (and founding Artistic Director of Crescendo), Christine Gevert, will be in Bolivia for the next few days, performing at the XI Early Music Festival , the largest festival of Early Music in the world (more than 1000 musicians from all over the world, playing 146 concerts over ten days).  Christine is slated to perform six of those concerts.

One of hers will be on the sole  historic organ that survived from the days of the Jesuits in colonial times, and we’re hoping she brings back recordings.   Here’s the schedule for the Festival:

Yes, we currently have our music director in Bolivia — but don’t worry, we’ll still have music at Trinity on Sunday:  Doug Schmolze will be back!

Sermon for April 17

Sunday’s Sermon

Sunday, April 17, 2016, the Dean, choir, acolytes, other musicians, and congregation of Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford visited us here at Trinity Lime Rock.

Since many in the Cathedral congregation speak Spanish natively, and in some cases, exclusively, the service was bi-lingual, including the sermon.

Two preachers

The sermon was delivered in English and Spanish by the Rector of Trinity Lime Rock and the Dean of the Cathedral

Want to read the sermon (sorry, we have it only in English here)?  You can certainly do so — and here it is!

Bulletin for Sunday, April 17

Bilingual Service

The bulletin for Sunday, April 17 is a particularly important one, because it celebrates the visit of the congregation, clergy, and musicians of Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford to Trinity Lime Rock.

The service will be bilingual (English/Spanish) as noted.  It marks the first time in the history of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut that the Cathedral congregation has gone out to visit a parish church in the diocese.

You can download the bulletin (all 19 pages of it) as a PDF file here:
