About our Vicar:The Rev. Dr. Robert P. Clements
The Rev. Dr. Robert P. Clements has served in a variety of roles in the Episcopal Church, from lay brother in a monastic order to port chaplain for merchant seamen. As a parish priest, he has served in over a dozen congregations in the northeastern United States, including five in Connecticut. In addition to his pastoral work, Fr. Clements has been a boarding school chaplain, ethics and philosophy instructor, and assistant headmaster. Fr. Clements is a graduate of the General Theological Seminary in New York and holds a doctorate in practical theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. He serves as an adjunct professor of Christian Education at Hartford Seminary, and as a lecturer in adolescent spirituality for both the Toronto Theological Consortium and the Institute for Youth Ministry. His series of Trinity Lectures on teenage ministry are due to be published in book form in the near future. If engaged in conversation, though, he is more likely to discuss the best board wax to use on Pacific waves, the dandiest fly ever to coax a trout in Vermont, and the subtleties in the music of the Mississippi Delta, in regards to his hobbies of surfing, fishing, and playing the bass guitar and blues harp. Fr. Clements lives in Litchfield with his wife, Jenni Matheson, who is the rector of the local parish. (Soon, we promise, we'll get more pictures of Fr. Clements for this page -- meanwhile, here's one taken just before our ecumenical Shrove Tuesday Evensong in 2007) Be sure to take a look at (and a listen to) Fr. Clements' weblog for Trinity Church -- The Coracleand, read a great article about Fr. Clements in the Litchfield County Times! |
