Our Clergy and Vestry
--The Most Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts
Schori, Presiding Bishop of
The Episcopal Church
--The Rt. Rev. Ian T. Douglas, Bishop of
the Diocese of Connecticut
The Clergy of
Trinity Lime Rock:
The Rev. Heidi Truax, our long-time friend and neighbor
from nearby Sharon, became the second Vicar and Priest in Charge of Trinity Lime Rock on All Saints Day
2009.
Trinity's Vestry, after consultation with
Bishop Ahrens and Diocesan Consultant Anne Watkins, unanimously voted on Sunday
evening, March 11, 2012, to call Pastor Heidi to become the 14th Rector of
Trinity Lime Rock. Pastor Heidi accepted the call.
Since a number of parishioners have requested additional information about
Pastor Heidi's background, she was kind enough to provide the following
information for us:
|
Heidi and Philip Truax moved to Sharon
with their four sons (Aaron, Toby, Hans and Luke) in 1981. They
started Sharon Computer in 1982. As computers themselves evolved
over the years their computer business grew and changed. Heidi was
always very involved in church life at Christ Church Sharon serving
as treasurer for eight years, vestry member, choir member, and
whatever else needed doing.
As the boys were finishing high school
at HVRHS, Heidi began to realize that maybe she might be called to
do more to serve God. She attended MEEP from 1997-99 and after a
period of discernment applied for the priesthood. She began
seminary at Berkeley Divinity School at Yale in 2000 and during her
time as a student worked as an intern with The Rev. Christopher
Webber in Canaan and Cornwall. She did a second internship at
Trinity Hartford and then was ordained to the transitional diaconate
in 2005. She then began her three year curacy at Trinity Southport
and was ordained to the priesthood in January of 2006.
Because Heidi led several mission trips
to Honduras while she was at Trinity Southport she became more and
more interested in the possibility of doing longer term mission work
in Honduras. When the Bishop of Honduras came to visit at Trinity
Southport he invited Heidi and Philip to come and work for him for a
time in Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras.
Heidi and Philip packed up the dog and
the cat and moved to Tegucigalpa in the fall of 2008. While there
Heidi worked in the cathedral leading services in Spanish and
English. She also taught Christian Education at the bi-lingual
school associated with the cathedral. Philip worked on a housing
project that proved to be a daunting task. When the school year
ended this spring, Heidi and Philip came back to Sharon and brought
with them a great deal of gratitude for the work that was done, and
the lessons learned. (We also brought the dog and cat back home
too.) Jupiter now speaks some Spanish as do Heidi and Philip.
