Our Ministries ... and You
The
Apostle James tells us that “faith without works is dead.”
The parishioners of Trinity Church are encouraged to offer back to God the
various gifts and talents with which He has blessed us. Most of us do so through
involvement in many areas, ranging from the prayer chain to
our outreach programs to participation in many
aspects of our church life. Some parishioners choose to work with our
Trinity Kids in the many activities in which
they participate, others sing in the choir, serve as lectors, assist at the
altar or become active in our fundraising efforts.
Whatever you like to do -- or think you MIGHT like to do -- there is sure to be a spot at Trinity where you can
become involved!

Here,
the Outreach Committee meets briefly after the 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist.
Here
are just a few of the ways in which the people of Trinity work toward the
fulfillment of our mission:
----Our
growing outreach ministry has recently had partnerships with the Children's
Ministry in New Haven, CT, and with the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Tulane
University in New Orleans. OWLS Kitchen food pantry in Lakeville
is an ongoing activity of ours. Last fall had a very successful (and
much appreciated) project in which we prepared back-to-school backpacks for
needy children at nearby North Canaan Elementary School. Also, at
Christmas, we collected gifts for needy children in North Canaan. Most
recently, we collected food coupons, non-perishables, cash, and Easter baskets
for Salisbury Family Services to distribute. In the past we have helped construct a Habitat for Humanity house in Salisbury, and have
been an active participant in the
"Adopt a Social Worker" program of Covenant to Care,
Inc. Generally, we try to undertake one project per calendar
quarter that makes a small contribution to helping people in our own geographic
area.
----ECW
sponsors an annual tag and bake sale, as well as the Ash Wednesday supper.
Our Men's Group undertakes maintenance functions
around the parish, and assists with hospitality.
----The Art Show Committee offers an
opportunity each year, from mid-August through Labor Day, for Trinity artists, along with other invited
individuals, to display and sell their works at the Trinity
Invitational Art Show, and provides occasional smaller exhibitions of Lime Rock
artists in our gallery.
----Trinity is
probably the closest church of any in the United States to a major automobile
race track! We enjoy excellent relations with our across-the-street neighbor,
Lime Rock Park, and we extent our hand to the
Track, to their employees, to drivers and crews, and to Track spectators.
Given our unique situation, there are few if any models for us to follow here,
and our outreach to all of these populations -- many of whom we interact with
regularly, especially when we occasionally park cars for Track visitors -- is for the most
part ad hoc, yet we believe it is filled with promise. We are listening to the
Holy Spirit!
----The
Capital Campaign undertook and successfully executed a major fundraising project for the renovation,
restoration and expansion of Trinity Church. And, remarkably in this day
and age, they did it without incurring a cent of debt!
----Our
senior parishioners are a special group of folks, and for them we provide large
print materials for them. Recently we installed an amplification system
for the sanctuary. (We had tried assisted hearing devices, and did not
find them satisfactory.) Additionally, we
often provide
transportation to special events for those who no longer drive.

Is
there something you’ve always wanted to do at a church and never seen offered?
Perhaps now is the time and Trinity is the place to undertake that project!
We welcome new ideas!
