Trinity and Lime Rock Park

If you're reading this, the chances are that you're coming to Lime Rock Park,  the most beautiful automobile racing facility in the world.  You're a driver, crew, or spectator, or a family member or a guest of one.  You're a race fan; probably a fanatic!!

If you've been to Lime Rock Park before, you've probably noticed that we're conveniently located right across Route 112, directly opposite the Outfield Entrance.   Perhaps you've even parked in our field (off Dugway Road).  Our Rector, the Rev. Heidi Truax, offers the Invocation at most major Lime Rock Park events.  Click here to read her invocation for the July 4 weekend, 2010.

Lime Rock Park's history contains year after year of memorable, and sometimes extraordinary race events -- we saw great ones in 2011.  We hope you will visit Lime Rock Park for one (or more) of the races this coming summer -- and come see us too!

Our Sunday worship services are at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and you are invited to "come as you are" for either service -- even if you're camping in the infield and didn't bring your "church clothes"!   Holy Communion at Trinity is open to all baptized Christians, regardless of age or denomination, and a blessing is always an alternative for anyone who has concerns or reservations about Communion in an unfamiliar church.

While you're here, we hope you will stop in at whatever special event we're having that particular weekend.  For example, the ladies of the parish host a tag sale on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and our annual art show is open for viewing -- and purchasing -- during all of Labor Day weekend.

On Sundays, we have refreshments after the 10:30 service, and we're always glad to welcome Lime Rock Park guests then, too!  (Our coffee hour is also a great chance to check out our building, and also to check out Trinity Field in the event you've never parked here.  It would be an unusual Sunday if you didn't find at least one intense discussion of motorsports in progress during coffee hour as well.)  If you've brought your kids, consider our Summer Sports program on summer Sunday mornings for them, too!

Happy 55th Birthday, Lime Rock Park!!

Close to the action at Trinity Lime Rock!

Trinity greatly appreciates the generosity of Lime Rock Park in opening the track for our Walk - Talk - Pray group to walk there on Friday mornings before the racing action begins.   Did you know that we at Trinity (and the entire Lime Rock community) enjoy excellent cell phone reception due to the generosity of Lime Rock Park?  It's true.  While cell phone service everywhere else in the Town of Salisbury is spotty at best, Lime Rock Park provides excellent service here.  Thank you, Lime Rock Park!

Even if you cannot join us at church, you should still know that we at Trinity Lime Rock remember the drivers, the pit crews, the staff, and the spectators at Lime Rock Park in our prayers at both services each Sunday of major race weekends.

Here's a video from our front lawn of the start of the 2012 Vintage Race Car Parade.  The cars are coming out of the Outfield entrance of Lime Rock Park and passing Trinity Lime Rock.

American LeMans Series race at Lime Rock Park

The two great photos of the American LeMans Series race at Lime Rock Park in 2005 appear here courtesy of Lime Rock Park.  That's us in the background in both of them, conveniently located right across the street from Lime Rock Park's outfield entrance.  We believe that we are the closest church (of any denomination) in North America to a major racing venue.

p.s. If you would like more information about our Parish, click any of the links in the column on the left hand side of the page or view our website directory If you came to our website while looking for Lime Rock Park's attractive and informative new website, here's a link to the track: www.limerock.com.   There you can see the track schedule, purchase tickets, and get lots of information about track activities.  Godspeed!!

Lime Rock Park

We hope Trinity Lime Rock is the church you'll think of first when visiting Lime Rock Park.  We are an inclusive parish, and you are welcome here regardless of your religious background -- and yes, a fair number of us are race fans and a few are more involved in motor sports than that.

However, we do understand that your personal needs may require a house of worship other than ours. Regardless, we're still your neighbors while you are here, and as neighbors we can still be helpful to you in finding the house of worship that's perfect for you.  We have compiled a comprehensive list of houses of worship of many denominations that are located in our Tri-State area (CT, NY and MA), within driving distance.   If you find any errors, please let our webmaster know so he can fix them!

p.p.s.  Have you heard tales of acrimony a half-century ago between the Track and the Church?  We heard about it, and have been investigating. Nobody who is active in Trinity today was involved "way back then" so it is sometimes hard to separate legend from fact.    We all here in Lime Rock, Church and Track alike, work together very smoothly and comfortably now, and have done so for decades, regardless of what you may have heard otherwise.

We've got some previously unpublished material from our archives and from the Vestry minutes (as well as some material about racing in our immediate area even BEFORE Lime Rock Park).  We urge you to read it, particularly if you've heard stories about "the old days".  If you have first-hand knowledge of those times in the late 1950s, or if you have any documents relating to the difficulties, please contact the webmaster. We would like to know all we can about the history of those bygone (and unfortunate) years so we never risk repeating those mistakes.
