We started it back in 2005(you
can read the story of how the program started here)
-- at that time, it was
basically just for the kids in our Sunday School.
During the summer of 2006, our second year, some kids from the
neighborhood, and some kids who had only occasionally been seen at Trinity
started showing up. We also realized what a wealth of soccer
talent (both coaching and playing) we had at Trinity. And we learned to
appreciate our eight acre, flat, well-drained soccer field more and more.
Sometime during the winter after our second season, it became clear to us
that
summer soccer was something we needed to do for the entire community.
Our third summer soccer season, 2007,
proved it. We had a total of 96
participants in the program, and the majority of the participants
had no previous connection with Trinity Church at all.
Summer soccer at Trinity on Sunday mornings has become a community institution in the Northwest Corner,
and we are really happy to be able to provide it.
We think that summer 2008 will be even more successful. We're getting out information
about summer soccer 2008 earlier, and we're going to explore the possibility of
also doing soccer sessions during the week, probably in the early evening.
Got
QUESTIONS
about Summer Soccer at Trinity? We've got
ANSWERS!
to see them.
Summer Soccer at Trinity begins
in early June and ends in late August, traditionally followed on the last day by "Sundae Sunday" during hospitality hour.
How summer soccer at
Trinity got started:
Back in
2005, one girl asked what
she and the other kids would be doing once Sunday School ended for the school
year. She thought that soccer might be a good activity. She may have
been a little bit surprised that we did, but we took her
suggestion.
Now,
we realize how inspired her
suggestion
really was.
Signups for Summer Soccer 2008
are now
open.

The program will begin on June 8 and the final Sunday session will be
August 24. We will probably have "Sundae Sunday" following soccer that
day. We start at 10 AM on Sundays, and stop promptly at 11:15 so
those who wish to do so can attend Communion at the church.
If we decide to do a session during the week, we will probably do it Wednesday
evenings, beginning at 5:30 and ending at 7 PM, and we'll probably do it during July and August.
There is no charge for participation in summer soccer at Trinity.
We promise that sooner or later we'll do a new video that includes our
2007 season, but meanwhile, check out our
2006 Summer Soccer video -- we made this one
in February 2007, starring our own Trinity Field
(in the winter) and our Summer 2006 participants!
