At Trinity, community engagement means helping others, and we strive to be a parish of action. By supporting ministries like Vecinos Seguros, helping with Thanksgiving dinners, contributing to local food banks, participating in the Crop Walk, and engaging in other charitable efforts, we care for our neighbors with compassion and commitment.

Art Shows

For 75 years, Trinity has hosted art exhibitions in our Walker Hall, Guild Room, and annex. Today, we host a number of shows in the Gallery at Trinity Lime Rock throughout the year. In a typical year, we host the annual Invitational Art Show — a fixture at Trinity for decades — as well as a variety of juried art and photographic shows. The very best place to find out what’s going on in Art at Trinity Lime Rock right now, and to get a sense for what is upcoming, is to check our Facebook page for the Trinity Gallery. You’ll also find photo albums of past shows at Trinity there.

You do NOT need to be a Trinity parishioner to enter our shows or even to help run them. We are delighted to welcome members of our larger community to our art show committee. Non-Trinity people serve on our art committee as both volunteers for and managers of our various shows throughout the year.

Note to artists:

The Gallery at Trinity Lime Rock uses the Walker Gallery Hanging System for all works that are displayed on walls. Artists desiring information about this hanging system, including pictures of wall displays for inspiration and reference, can find it on the vendor’s website, walkerdisplay.com.

The Corner Food Pantry

Trinity has, for decades, contributed food to the Corner Food Pantry at St. Mary’s Church in Lakeville. Toward that end, a large wicker basket is kept in Walker Hall to collect donations. Sometimes we hold a special drive to provide a boost to their supplies – we call it “Feed a Family of Four for a Day.” For such drives, families and individuals are asked to fill a grocery sack with non-perishables and bring them in for a special blessing.

Crop Walk

Our Crop Walk team is “Trinity Lime Rock,” and our walk is the Northwest Connecticut walk. Join us!! We’ve been involved in this Church World Services drive to end hunger for years — maybe decades!  In 2025, Team Trinity exceeded our financial fundraising goal, placing us in second place for this walk. Trinity was first among teams, with 10 walkers pre-registered, and all appeared and walked at least part of the course, which extended via the Rail Trail from the Salisbury Congregational Church to Lakeville and back. We appreciate the efforts of the Salisbury Congregationalists in organizing the walk; no small task, as Trinity knows from the years when we ran it.

Welcoming Refugees Here in the Northwest Corner

In recent years, we’ve been involved in welcoming families from Bosnia, Syria, and Ukraine to the Northwest Corner, often collaborating with local churches and other not-for-profit organizations.

Thank Offerings

The young people select their own beneficiary each year. Current beneficiaries are public libraries in Sharon and Salisbury. A previous beneficiary was the Little Guild of St. Francis.

Tree Lighting

For the past several years, Trinity has lit one of the large spruce trees in our yard for the holiday season to encourage our neighbors in Lime Rock. This year, Perotti Tree Company handled the decorations using their bucket ladder, and the decorations were illuminated during a ceremony featuring carols by Trinity’s Choir, followed by hot chocolate and donuts.

Traveling Worship Services

When we have available clergy, Trinity has held weekly worship services at Noble Horizons, Geer Nursing, and Geer Lodge.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity has been the recipient of Trinity support for many years. Most recently, we’ve been involved in building a Habitat house in Millerton, NY, now completed and occupied.

Annual Outreach Brunch at Trinity

This potluck lunch, following a 10:30 AM service, provides invited representatives of area not-for-profit organizations with an opportunity to tell the parish about their programs and meet interested parishioners.

Thanksgiving Dinner in North Canaan

We collaborate with other area churches to serve a free Thanksgiving dinner to over 150 people! People come to spend time with others; people bring their families; people come who don’t want to cook; people come who are alone. It is quite a community event at Pilgrim House in North Canaan.

Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem

Our collaboration here is in the form of financial support for this Anglican Diocese operating in Israel, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. This geographic spread adds innumerable complications to the Diocese's work due to the many borders, checkpoints, and national governments involved. In particular, the divergent laws and politics of each region make the administration of these ministries exceedingly challenging. We are particularly interested in Al Ahli Hospital, the hospital operated by the Diocese in Gaza City.

Christian Education for Adults

Trinity Torrington is starting a new Book Discussion Group, and they would love to have some fellow readers from Trinity Lime Rock join them!

They are thinking of the following:

Read C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity" together. Meet once a month to discuss key ideas and passages in chapters read for that meeting. Meetings would be held in hybrid format, i.e., in both a physical location and online simultaneously (We could possibly alternate the in-person meeting between our two Trinity's, Lime Rock and Torrington, if that's amenable to our friends at Lime Rock)

Ideally, we could select a meeting time, get copies of the book, and have our kick-off meeting in July.

They would like to ascertain the best times to meet. If you are interested in learning more, or you would like to join the group, please reach out to Bobby Naeher at robertnaeher@gmail.com.

We are in the process of searching for new permanent clergy, so we’re not currently offering other adult education programs, but in the past, we have offered the following:

Adult Education via Zoom on Thursdays

When COVID arrived, the class moved from already-busy Sunday mornings to Thursdays on Zoom. Attendance increased! One Thursday, we had participants from four states (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina) and a class member who joined us from Nicaragua. The format of this class has been reading together a book of the Bible selected by the class, with discussion led by the clergy. The class is on hiatus while we seek new clergy.

Book Forum

When a parishioner or friend of the parish publishes a book, we schedule a Book Forum.  When possible, we offer the program either via Zoom. The best-attended of these goes back more than a decade, to when Tom Brokaw spoke of his “The Greatest Generation”—that one drew an overflow crowd. Recent book forums at Trinity have been conducted by authors Thomas Schindler, “A Hidden Legacy: The Life and Work of Esther Zimmer Lederberg“; Geoffrey Brown, “Trinity Lime Rock in Context: a History” and Leo Gafney, “I Am With You Always: Stories of Jesus to Inspire Deeper Prayer.

Vecinos Seguros 2

We are a link in the chain of support for immigrants regardless of legal status. We serve as financial fiduciary for this organization and provide meeting space and audio/video support. Here’s a message from our friends at “VS2”:

Do You Know an Immigrant Family in Need?

Vecinos Seguros 2 May Be Able To Provide Financial Assistance

Our good friends at Vecinos Seguros 2 are seeking to help local immigrant families impacted by ICE actions or otherwise in need. Thanks to a $2,000 grant from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation’s newly launched Immigrant Support Fund for NW Litchfield County, VS2 can provide help with legal expenses or necessities like rent or groceries. Eligible families must live in one of the following towns: Canaan (Falls Village), Cornwall, Goshen, Kent, Norfolk, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, or Warren. Please help spread the word.

Email VecinosSeguros2@gmail.com or call Jill at 860-364-0362 for more information.

New York Cycle Club

Many years ago, on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, Trinity was humming with the Art Show open and a tag sale in progress when a number of – perhaps 40 — bicyclists rode up. We did not know them, and they did not know us, but they were on a lengthy ride, one rider was having mechanical problems, and they were hot, tired, and hungry. We welcomed them and fed them – and they have been back virtually every Memorial Day Saturday since. Their annual visit has become a tradition at Trinity!

Women’s AA

In recent years, it’s become evident that for women, AA often seems to be more successful when limited to other women.  This program is offered both in person at Trinity Lime Rock and via Zoom.

Lime Rock Park

Lime Rock Park (our neighbors across the road) and Trinity have a long-standing relationship. Our Rector has served as Chaplain for the track for many years, providing Invocations on major race days and offering clergy support in other ways.
