Easter II at Trinity: video and sermon

Here’s Pastor Heidi/s sermon from the second Sunday of Easter — so-called Low Sunday — in 2020 — in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Of course we were worshiping remotely.  You can watch the service if you’d like.

Easter II

Short-term rota

In accordance with the instructions of both the Bishop of Connecticut and the Governor of Connecticut, Trinity will be worshiping online until at least May 20, 2020.  However, that doesn’t mean that we cannot have parishioners participate actively in the services!  Thus, a number of parishioners will be doing the readings for our online services using Zoom.

Attached is the rota showing who will read when.  We will issue a new rota when the Coronavirus situation becomes clearer and as we receive further directions.

As well, our Music Director is offering daily improvisations/contemplations on the organ at 7 PM, also on our Facebook page.

Easter 2020

The Easter service this year was unlike any before in the history of Trinity — but the last time we dealt with a pandemic was 100 years ago, with the Great Influenza of 1918 – 1920, and we did not have the internet to offer a different way to “do church” — nor the medical and epidemiological knowledge to know how to handle epidemics.

This year there was no Easter Vigil, and no 8 AM Holy Eucharist.  The 10:30 AM Eucharist, however, reflected the four weeks experience we have now had in virtual services, and, if you missed in, it is well worth watching.  You can do it here:

If you would like to direct someone else to the service, HERE is the link to use.

If you would like to read Padre Juan’s reflections for our Hispanic congregation, please click 04-12-2020 Santo Sábado 2020

One final note:  many people like to drop something extra in the offering plate on Easter.  If this sounds like you, Please click HERE to go to the page where we help you do that, even in these virtual times.

During the week, be aware of our offerings including Bible study and Book Group, and we are very fortunate that Christine Gevert is providing us with a 15 – 20 minute organ meditation/improvisation based on a hymn every evening at 7 PM.  You can find them on our Facebook Page.

We wish you a joyous Easter Season!!

Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020 at Trinity Lime Rock

Palm Sunday 2020 at Trinity was, well — different!!   A wonderful virtual service, and one well worth viewing again, it incorporated the efforts of Pastor Heidi, Christine, Gordon, Linda, and a dozen readers of the Passion Gospel, who contributed their part via Zoom.

Here are some photos from April 28 at Trinity Lime Rock!

The Sunday following Easter Sunday is usually thought of as “Low Sunday” — a little of the exhilaration and mystery of the Resurrection has begun to be accepted, and the folks we see mainly at Christmas and Easter have returned to their usual Sunday pastimes.

We had a pretty good turnout this Low Sunday, all things considered, and we got accomplished something we had been postponing for a long time: a thorough cleaning of the Sunday School room. During the service, we heard a new Sanctus and Fraction Anthem, composed for us by our music director, Christine Gevert.
